How to Paint a Ceiling Fan?

Ceiling fans are of various types. If you have got the metal-based fan, being used for a long time, it gets stained and rust will be nesting all over your ceiling fan. Or, if you have painted your room with a sort of paint that does not match with the color of the fan. In these cases, we need to give our fans a suitable polish.

If you want to do that job yourself, you can do it. But if you are afraid of giving your fan the exact color or shine, then you would better take the help of a professional for a better coat.

First, separate the blades from the base. Detach every single part so that you can paint these separately.

Before getting started, what you need is to bring the necessary equipment for having it done:

  1. Sandpaper
  2. Wipes
  3. Hand gloves
  4. Mask
  5. Two paint sprayers (if the base and blade have different colors)
  6. Brush to be required if you use a paint pot

Step 1: Wear the mask and clean the blades with sandpaper and make sure to use downward motion with solid sweeps. Pay extra attention to the edges of the blades. Also, use sandpaper on the other parts where necessary.

Step 2: Clean the entire fan with wipes.

Step 3: Before getting into the main job, make sure to give your spray paint a better shake. Besides, test the nozzle so you know what kind of pressure you are working with.

Step 4: Spray six to ten inches away from the surface and also spray side to side motion. Paint all the fan’s hardware.

Step 5: Take a moment; let it dry all the way. If you need a second coat, just go ahead and run through all of it one more.

That’s it!
